CCTV released, appeal for public assistance after carjacking, NSW

Police have released CCTV images and are again appealing for public assistance after a carjacking in Sydney’s west today.

About 10.20am (Wednesday 20 April 2022), emergency services were called to a shopping centre on Lakeside Parade, Jordan Springs, following reports a man had threatened a woman with a knife before stealing her car.

The woman was uninjured.

Officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation to locate the unknown man and the vehicle.

The vehicle was a blue Hyundai i30N with New South Wales registration HER30N.

Just before 1pm (Wednesday 20 April 2022), police were called to the intersection of Rose Crescent and Gloucester Avenue, North Parramatta, after reports of a two-vehicle collision.

Police attended and were told a Mercedes and a blue Hyundai 130N – believed to be the stolen vehicle involved in the earlier incident – had collided, before the male driver of the Hyundai fled the scene on foot.

A search was conducted of the area, with assistance from PolAir; however, the man was not located.

As investigations continue, police have released CCTV images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, slim build, in his 30’s, wearing a grey hoodie, grey track suit pants, white runners and blue medical facemask.
