Detectives have released CCTV in an appeal for information after the body of a man was located at Elermore Vale earlier this month.
About 12.30pm on Wednesday 19 August 2026, police were called to Lake Road following reports a body had been located.
Officers attended and located the body of a man on a vacant property.
Police attached to Newcastle City Police District established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the incident under Strike Force Draven.
Following inquiries, the body has since been identified as 55-year-old man Shane Ryan.
As inquiries into the circumstances surrounding Mr Ryan’s death continue, detectives have now released a CCTV of him at a hotel in Singleton on Friday 31 July 2026.
Mr Ryan is depicted in the image wearing a distinctive ‘Holden HSV Racing’ jacket, with blue jeans and brown boots.
He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, of medium build, about 170cm tall, with a grey goatee beard, bald head, and green eyes.
Anyone who may have seen or had contact with Mr Ryan in recent weeks, or has information regarding his whereabouts, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
