CCTV released as police investigate fire in Padstow

Police have released CCTV footage in an appeal to the community for assistance, after a fire at a childcare centre in Padstow overnight.

Shortly after 9pm on Wednesday 26 June 2019, emergency services were called to a child care centre on Gwandalan Road.

Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command attended and found the premises well alight.

The fire was extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW officers a short time later while police spoke with several witnesses at the location.

The building was extensively damaged but there were no reports of injury.

As police continue with their inquiries into the fire, investigators have released CCTV images showing an explosion and someone who appears to be running from the location.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined however the blaze is being treated as suspicious.

Police have commenced an investigation into the incident and have appealed for anyone with information about suspicious or illegal activity in the area prior to 9pm to come forward.
