CCTV released, inquiries continue into armed street robbery in Redfern

Police are renewing their appeal for assistance to identify a man who they believe may be able to assist with inquiries into an armed robbery at Redfern earlier this year.

About 9pm on Thursday 7 February 2019, a 19-year-old man was confronted by another man while walking east along Elizabeth Street, near the intersection with Redfern Street.

It’s alleged the unknown man threatened him with a knife, before stealing his wallet.

He fled and police were alerted. The 19-year-old wasn’t injured.

Officers from Redfern Police Area Command attended and commenced an investigation into the incident.

After the robbery, it’s alleged the man’s credit card was used by the man at a nearby hotel, before he purchased items at a convenience store on Redfern Street.

As inquiries continue, investigators have released CCTV of a man they believe can assist with their inquiries.

The man depicted is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his 30s, about 183cm tall, of average build, with short dark hair, and was unshaven.

In the vision he is wearing an orange high-visibility long-sleeved shirt and carrying a black backpack with grey/blue straps.
