Charles Darwin University has maintained its position in the 2027 Times Higher Education rankings.

Charles Darwin University (CDU) has improved its standing across all five categories in the 2027 Time Higher Education World University Rankings.

The rankings, released this week, offer a comparative list of almost 2,300 institutions across 118 countries and territories.

While CDU maintained its overall position compared to other universities within the top 500, its teaching, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook scores each improved from the 2026 results.

The teaching and industry categories saw the greatest improvement, increasing to a score of 24.3 and 53.9 respectively compared to 22.7 and 50.4 last year.

Research environment and research quality also saw growth.

The University’s international outlook has been its strongest indicator since 2019, reaching a new height of 82.9 points in the 2027 results.

CDU Interim Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Fiona Coulson welcomed the results.

Professor Coulson said she was pleased that CDU continued to compete at an international level with other institutions.

“These results reflect the commitment of our staff and students and the strength of the work happening across the University, “Professor Coulson said.

” “CDU has a strong record of delivering research with real impact, and I’m incredibly proud to see continued growth in the quality of our teaching and our engagement with industry.

The Times Higher Education rankings provide important international recognition of that work and of the contribution CDU continues to make in the Northern Territory and beyond.”
