Celebrating our creative arts students

Art lovers, fellow students and members of the public are invited to celebrate the extraordinary achievements of La Trobe University’s final year creative arts students, as part of FESTIVAL 2019.

The student-led multi-arts festival will run across three La Trobe campuses – Melbourne, Bendigo and Mildura – throughout October and November.

It will showcase works from graduating students across a wide range of disciplines, including screen, theatre, visual arts and writing. Entry is free, and members of the public are welcome to attend.

The festival opens at 3pm, Friday 18 October at the Menzies Building on La Trobe’s Melbourne campus, with special guest speaker, Senior Producer of Melbourne’s 2019 Fringe Festival, Danny Delahunty.

La Trobe Senior Lecturer is Creative Arts, Dr Vincent Alessi, said the event is a wonderful reflection of the creativity and passion that creative arts students inject into their studies.

“These works are the culmination of many hours of planning and creative endeavor for these dedicated students.

“The festival provides an opportunity for people to see what can be achieved as part of a creative arts degree – and the many and varied ways in which students can express themselves through art,” Dr Alessi said.

This year’s works show that contemporary creative practices are a rich and potent means to tackle the urgent challenges we face, giving us the material and conceptual tools to understand the world and imagine it otherwise.

The following exhibitions and performances will occur at each of the three campuses as part of FESTIVAL 2019:
