CEO announced for ChemCentre

  • Peter McCafferty appointed as ChemCentre CEO 
  • Science Minister Dave Kelly has announced the appointment of Peter McCafferty as the Chief Executive Officer of ChemCentre for a five-year term.

    ChemCentre is the Western Australian Government’s chemical and forensic science service provider, based in Bentley.

    Mr McCafferty, who has been Acting Chief Executive Officer of ChemCentre since June 2017, was selected as the best person to lead the organisation after an extensive search.

    He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science and a Graduate Diploma in Business from Curtin University. Prior to his appointment as Acting Chief Executive Officer in 2017, Mr McCafferty was the Director of the Scientific Services Division at ChemCentre.

    Prior to commencing at ChemCentre in 1992, Mr McCafferty worked as a chemist in the private sector.

    As stated by Science Minister Dave Kelly:

    “Peter has spent the past 27 years working for ChemCentre, starting as a Senior Chemist and now progressing to the role of Chief Executive Officer. 

    “After working at ChemCentre for almost three decades, Peter knows the business back to front.

    “I congratulate Peter on his appointment and look forward to working with him to see ChemCentre’s role in safeguarding the community, industry and environment continue to grow.”
