The Climate Emergency Response Plan (CERP), adopted by Council in May 2021, is about to undergo a 5-year review. The review recognises the significant progress made since the plan was introduced, including the integration of climate considerations into Council policies, operations and decision-making processes. It also acknowledges the important contribution of Queenscliff Climate Action Now (QCAN) in developing and advancing the original plan.
The review aims to develop a practical, place-based Climate Strategy that focuses on achievable priorities, clear responsibilities, informed investment decisions and measurable outcomes.
To support this process, Council has engaged Nation Partners to assist with community engagement activities. The review will seek community feedback on key issues such as climate adaptation, resilience, emissions reduction and collaborative action, while clarifying what Council can influence, what reporting pillars have been established, and what lies outside Council’s control.
