CFA Fire Danger Period

The CFA’s Declared Fire Danger Period begins on Monday 27 November 2023.

The Fire Danger Period is when CFA restricts the use of fire in the community to help prevent fires from starting.

During the Fire Danger Period, you cannot light a fire in the open air, other than for warmth or cooking.

The Fire Danger Period is different to a Total Fire Ban Day. A Total Fire Ban Day can be declared at any time throughout the year. No fires are to be lit on days of Total Fire Ban.

A zero tolerance approach is taken to the deliberate or reckless lighting of fires during the Fire Danger Period and significant penalties apply.
