The WA Long Service Leave Act applies to many state and national system employers and employees in Western Australia.
On 20 June 2022, a number of important changes to the Long Service Leave Act commenced.
Key changes include:
- Modernisation of the types of paid and unpaid absences that count towards long service leave accrual;
- Provision for greater flexibility in how long service leave is taken;
- New record keeping requirements and stronger enforcement provisions, including penalties for contraventions
- New ‘transfer of business’ provisions that apply when business ownership changes.
