Changes to Yarra and South Melbourne servicing arrangements

Customers will be able to access both Centrelink and Medicare services from the South Melbourne Service Centre as of Friday 22 May.

Services currently provided from the Yarra Service Centre will consolidate into the South Melbourne Service Centre on Friday 22 May.

Services Australia General Manager Hank Jongen said the agency continually reviews its service options.

‘The outcome of comprehensive lease negotiations with the Yarra Service Centre landlord, has resulted in Services Australia being required to vacate the building before the lease expiry date of 22 May 2020,’ Mr Jongen said.

While the Yarra location will no longer be operating, Services Australia will continue to provide face-to-face services to people who require support at South Melbourne and surrounding service centres.

‘We are committed to providing quality face-to-face assistance for people accessing our services,’ Mr Jongen said.

‘We’ve been making rapid improvements to support the many Australians who need our help and we know people are increasingly taking advantage of online options to manage their Centrelink and Medicare needs.

‘In fact, all Medicare related claims, changes or inquiries can now be done online or over the phone.’

The South Melbourne Service Centre is open Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

In addition to the South Melbourne Service Centre, there are alternative service centres that provide both Centrelink and Medicare services such as the Windsor Service Centre (255 High Street, Prahran) and Newmarket Service Centre (482-490 Racecourse Road, Flemington).
