Charges following attempted aggravated carjackings in Noble Park

Southern Metro Region Crime Squad have charged a man following an alleged attempted aggravated carjackings in Noble Park this afternoon.

It’s alleged the offender waved down a motorist in an underground carpark on Buckley Street about 12.30pm on 1 September.

The male driver stopped, the offender demanded he get out of his car and proceeded to punch and kick the victim before leaving on foot empty handed.

The offender then approached a second victim in the carpark and made demands for his car keys before producing what appeared to be a firearm and walking away empty handed.

The offender then approached a third man sitting in his car nearby and made demands for the vehicle armed with what appeared to be a firearm, hitting the man in the face.

The victim exited his vehicle and the offender drove away in it.

He was arrested in Theodore Avenue a short time later.

The 30-year-old Noble Park man has been charged with attempted carjacking, unlawful assault, attempted armed robbery, aggravated carjacking with imitation firearm, recklessly cause injury, assault with weapon, theft of motor vehicle, disqualified driving, theft and possess imitation firearm.

He has been remanded in custody to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court tonight.
