Police in Tennant Creek have charged a 38-year-old male with a number of offences including sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 16.
It is alleged that the male, an Indonesian national, groomed the victim over several months before they engaged in sexual intercourse in February this year.
Investigators yesterday arrested the male and executed a search warrant at his home, seizing several items including his mobile phone and a less than traffickable amount of cannabis.
The male was charged with:
- Sexual intercourse with a child under 16
- Possess child abuse material
- Possess Schedule 2 dangerous drug – less than traffickable
He was remanded in custody to appear in Alice Springs Local Court on Monday.
