Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) has laid 10 charges against chemical storage operator Bradbury Industrial Services Pty Ltd and its Director Paul Anthony Bristow.
On 5 April 2019, Bradbury’s Thorneycroft St, Campbellfield facility was engulfed in a fire. EPA will allege the source of the fire was toluene being ‘decanted at the premises from a 1000 litre intermediate bulk container (IBC) into a 60 litre drum without there being any or adequate control of ignition sources.’ and that chemicals were stored exceeding the licensed limit.
The resulting fire caused an environmental and human health hazard. The charges relate to several sections of the Environmental Protection Act 1970.
A hearing will be held at Melbourne Magistrates Court on 1 April 2020
