Cherry Gardens bushfire investigation

Police investigating the cause of the Cherry Gardens, Dorset Vale and Bradbury bushfires are appealing to the public for further information.

Just after 4pm on Sunday 24 January 2021, bushfires were discovered on Hicks Hill Road at Cherry Gardens, Mathews Road and Mount Bold Road at Bradbury and Dorset Vale and Cut Hill Road at Kangarilla. The fires quickly spread in very hot conditions, burning for over 24 hours.

As part of that investigation, police wish to identify the driver of a small white vehicle who may be able to assist. The vehicle was seen driving west past the Blackwood Golf Club on Cherry Gardens Road between 3.50pm and 4pm on Sunday 24 January coming from Ackland Hill Road.

Police are also seeking to speak with a man who spoke to a police officer at the intersection of Ackland Hill Road and Cherry Gardens Road about 5.45pm on the same day.
