Chief Marketing Officer appointed

A marketing executive with significant senior leadership experience across the Higher Education, Financial Services and Health sectors, Natalie Ellisdon, has been appointed as La Trobe University’s Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) after an extensive external search.

Natalie has held the position of interim Chief Marketing Officer at La Trobe since March 2021 and prior to that she was Global Marketing Director for RMIT.

La Trobe Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global & Regional), Professor Richard Speed, congratulated Natalie on her appointment.

“Over the past year, Natalie has successfully led the Marketing and Recruitment team through a time of significant change and transformation for La Trobe,” Professor Speed said.

“Natalie’s considerable marketing and leadership skills and experience spanning the public and private sectors have already proven invaluable when taking the University’s marketing and student recruitment strategy to the next level, and I wish her all the very best in the role.”

Natalie Ellisdon said that she looked forward to leading La Trobe’s Marketing and Recruitment team during this important implementation phase of the University’s Strategic Plan.

“My experience leading transformations and implementing innovation in marketing and brand strategy that utilise insights and technology will support delivery of the University’s goals and commercial outcomes. I’m very excited to be a part of the La Trobe team,” Ms Ellisdon said.

Natalie is a highly accomplished marketing and digital executive with an extensive background in developing and implementing innovative and commercially driven strategies to deliver on customer and business objectives through brand and marketing activities.

She has led large teams of marketing and digital professionals across the functional areas of Brand, Product, Technology, CRM, Communications, Digital/eCommerce, Strategy, Acquisition, Marketing Automation and Lifecycle Management.

Prior to her higher education roles at RMIT and La Trobe, Natalie’s previous roles have included:

  • Chief Technology and Marketing Officer for Centrepoint Alliance
  • GM Retail Marketing and Group eCommerce, and GM Marketing and Digital, Wealth and Capital Markets for Australian Unity
  • Chief Marketing Officer for iSelect
  • Senior Marketing Leader for GE Capital.
