Child dies after hit-run collision in Sunshine North

The young boy critically injured in a hit-run collision in Sunshine North yesterday has sadly passed away in hospital.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and appeal for the driver involved to come forward.

Police have been told the collision occurred on McIntyre Road when it appears the young three-year-old boy ran onto the road about 6.30pm.

It is believed the child was struck by a driver in a red sedan who failed to stop at the scene.

The critically injured boy, who was taken to hospital, sadly passed away overnight.

The sedan was last seen travelling north on McIntyre Road.

Investigators are appealing for anyone with information and or the driver to come forward and contact police.
