Child injured after being hit by car in Wentworthville

A young boy has been airlifted to hospital after being hit by a car at Wentworthville this afternoon.

About 4.40pm (Thursday 29 July 2021), emergency services were called to Lane Street, near Veron Street, Wentworthville, following reports a child had been hit by a car.

A three-year-old boy was treated at the scene for injuries to his head before being airlifted to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.

The driver of the vehicle – a 36-year-old man– was uninjured and taken for mandatory testing.

Officers from Cumberland Police Area Command attended and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A crime scene has been established and local road closures are currently in place.

As inquires continue, police are appealing for anyone with information, or dashcam footage of the incident, to come forward.
