Child safety focus at Championships

A new registration process is being introduced for under 18s taking part in the Mooroopna 2020 Championships as part of CFA’s ongoing commitment to child safety.

Child safety focus at Championships

As an organisation, CFA’s members interact with children and young people in many different ways and we want to ensure that we are keeping them safe whether we are out in the community, back at the brigade or at large scale events such as State Championships.

In 2020, as we continue our commitment to child safety, CFA will require all parents / guardians of any person under the age of 18 participating in the State Championships to supply relevant personal and medical information of their child(ren). This is to ensure that CFA are best equipped to manage any situation that may occur when the child or young person is in our care.

To collect this information and ensure it is stored and managed securely and in line with privacy legislation, CFA will be utilising the online (mobile and tablet friendly) platform CareMonkey. CareMonkey may be a familiar tool for many parents / guardians as it is utilised by the vast majority of schools across Australia, most Scouts groups and is becoming more and more common in sporting and social clubs.

So how will this be rolled out?

In the New Year, parents / guardians of junior members participating in the 2020 State Championships will be sent a link via email to their nominated email address which will take them to the required online form to complete. Simply click on the link, create a profile (if you don’t have one already) and fill out the form. That’s it!

Information collected in this form will only be accessible (via secure logins and passwords) by relevant members, which include:

  • CFA’s People, Culture and Safety Department
  • CFA’s Child Safety Team (access only available in the immediate lead up and during the event)
  • Championships First Aid Staff (access only available in the immediate lead up and during the event)
  • Brigade Junior leaders – only for their junior members (access only available in the immediate lead up and during the event)
