Child seriously assaulted; man and woman charged in Cabramatta

A man and a woman will face court today charged after a child was seriously injured during an alleged domestic-related assault at a Cabramatta home last night.

Emergency services were called to a home on Chadderton Street about 9.50pm (Friday 28 August 2020), After reports of an assault.

Officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command attended and found the five-year-old boy suffering serious injuries.

He was treated by paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital before being transferred to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead where he remains in a critical condition.

A 20-year-old old man and a 31-year-old woman – known to the child – were arrested at the home.

The man was taken to Fairfield Police Station, and the woman was taken to Liverpool Police Station.

He was charged with wound person intend to cause grievous bodily harm (DV).

She was charged with not provide for child cause danger of serious injury (DV).

Police will allege in court that the child had been assaulted with a wooden stick.

They were both refused bail to appear at Paramatta Bail Court today (29 August 2020).
