Child sex offences, Townsville City

Townsville Child Protection and Investigation Unit (CPIU) detectives have charged a 33-year-old Townsville City man with alleged child sex offences.

Police will allege that between March and June 2022, the man committed offences against two teenage girls in the Townsville area.

Following initial investigations, detectives executed a search warrant at a Murray location yesterday (July 14), where they allegedly located child exploitation material on a digital device belonging to the man.

The man has been charged with three counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16, and one count each of possess tainted property, possessing child exploitation material, using internet to procure children under 16.

He will appear in Townsville Magistrates Court this morning, July 15.
