Childcare and nature play a priority in new Perth community

  • New early childhood education centre due to open this year in Kara at Treeby – one of Perth’s most in-demand new communities
  • Centre enhances other family-friendly amenities within the estate, including a nature play area

A new early childhood education centre in one of Perth’s growing new communities, DevelopmentWA’s Kara at Treeby, is set to open this year.

The facility is being developed and reflects the growing demand from families wanting to make their home in Kara estate located 25 minutes south of Perth’s CBD, which is being developed by LWP Group on behalf of DevelopmentWA.

The childcare centre will be set on a 2,043sqm site on Lycaste Parade and is the latest family focused infrastructure at Kara, following the completion of Stage 1 of the estate’s Central Park which includes a flying fox, 5m high slide, nature play area, fitness equipment, shaded seating and BBQ facilities.

The second stage of the park featuring parkour equipment and a kickabout area is nearing completion.

Kara at Treeby is designed to cater for families with children of all age groups, with Atwell Primary School, the new Treeby Primary School and Atwell College in the catchment area.

As stated by Lands Minister John Carey:

“Kara at Treeby is an environmentally sustainable and well-connected community, offering a diverse range of affordable land and housing choices to residents, with easy access to shopping, cafes, parklands and the City.

“The childcare centre will be an exciting addition to one of Perth’s most popular new developments and is another example of how this Government is committed to delivering healthy and socially-connected communities.

“The childcare centre enhances a range of other family friendly infrastructure at Kara, including a nature play area, playground equipment and shaded BBQ areas, and will help to ensure parents with young children have all the facilities they need to live, work and play.”

As stated by Early Childhood Education Minister Sabine Winton:

“Schools and childcare centres are huge contributors to our community’s social fabric.

“We also know how important the early stages of a child’s life are and the need for quality early childhood education.

“That’s why I’m excited to announce the addition of this new childcare facility at Kara, which will provide a place for 92 local children to play and learn in the safety of their community, within walking distance of their home.”
