Children’s Book Week 2020 Wrap Up – Mosman

Mosman Library Service had a busy time celebrating this year’s Book Week 17-23 October with a packed program full of activities for children of all ages.

On Monday 19 October we were visited by children’s author Lindsay Holiday, who spoke to multiple school groups via Zoom about reading, writing, and her stories.

On Tuesday 20 October, we enjoyed reading some of the CBCA Book of the Year Awards winners and honour books as part of our regular storytime program currently streaming via the Library’s Facebook page.

We also ran a Book Week Competition for children aged 1-12 years. Staff enjoyed viewing the variety of entries and were impressed with the effort children made. The competition covered three different categories; colouring in, writing an acrostic poem, and writing a narrative. Winners were awarded their certificates and prizes by Simin Reyhanian Children’s Librarian at a special ceremony on Thursday 22 October through Zoom.

The celebrations continued afterwards with Paul’s Magic Show, an entertaining performance based on this year’s Book Week theme – Curious Creatures Wild Minds.

We look forward to seeing everyone again for Children’s Book Week 2021 next year.
