Christmas and New Year derestrictions for Port of Brisbane and Mackay Ports

Please be advised that during the Christmas and New Year period, the following restrictions apply to an oversize vehicle or combination:

  • An oversize vehicle or combination is not permitted to travel from 12 noon Friday 23 December 2022 until 11.59pm Monday 2 January 2023.
  • An oversize vehicle or combination which requires more than one pilot or escort vehicle is not permitted to travel from 12.01am Monday 19 December 2022 until 11.59pm Monday 02 January 2023.

Derestrictions

The Department of Transport and Main Roads recognises that sea cargo arrives and departs from Queensland ports during the Christmas and New Year period. To assist with the movement of freight and equipment to and from the Port of Brisbane and Mackay Ports the following derestrictions apply.

Port – Bond Store/Holding Yard

A heavy vehicle or combination not exceeding 4.5m in width or 30m in length that is transporting a large indivisible item, during the Christmas curfew period, for the purpose of import or export, to or from the Port of Brisbane or Mackay Ports and a Bond Store/Holding Yard, via the arterial roads listed in Appendix A (Table 1), is permitted to travel from:

  • 27 December to 30 December, and
  • between sunrise and 10.00am.

Note: No movement is permitted on state-wide public holidays that fall between the 27th to 30th of December.

Port – loading/unloading equipment

A heavy vehicle or combination not exceeding 4.5m in width or 30.0m in length that is transporting a large indivisible item, during the Christmas curfew period:

  • to or from a Bond Store/Holding Yard, via the arterial roads listed in Appendix A (Table 1), to a Brisbane Bulk Terminal wharf, via the arterial roads listed in Appendix A (Table 2) for the purpose of loading/unloading bulk carriers, or
  • to or from a Bond Store/Holding Yard, via the arterial roads listed in Appendix A (Table 1), to a Mackay Bulk Terminal wharf for the purpose of loading/unloading bulk carriers, or
  • transporting to or from a Brisbane wharf, Navy vessel gangways for personnel to disembark.

is permitted to travel from:

  • 27 December to 30 December, and
  • between sunrise and 10.00am.

Note: No movement is permitted on state-wide public holidays that fall between the 27th to 30th of December.
