Christmas comes early with playground opening

Santa has delivered an early Christmas present with the revamped Whittlesea Public Gardens in Lalor to be open to the public from December 24.

The first stage of the multimillion-dollar redevelopment is almost complete, meaning families and friends are free to get along and try out the new facilities.

Children of all ages are sure to love the new playground, which features a flying fox, rope climbing, mix of swings, in-ground trampolines, nature play elements such as balance logs and tunnels and much more.

Anyone lucky enough to find a new bike or scooter under the tree on Christmas Day can take them for a spin at the park’s new learn-to-ride area.

The finishing touches on the stage one works will be done early in the new year, while the redevelopment’s second stage, which includes an ‘urban zone’ comprising skate park, rock climbing wall and basketball court, will commence in 2023.

The project is jointly funded by the City of Whittlesea and the Victorian Government via its Growing Suburbs Fund.
