The City of Perth has launched the second round of its COVID-19 recovery package, offering grants of up to $20,000 to eligible businesses and six-months’ free membership to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA (CCIWA).
The second phase of Perth Bounce Back also includes up to $100 in free parking for City of Perth parking card holders and free busking permits for new performers, and those wishing to renew.
Perth Bounce Back was launched in February, to provide a staged approach to City business recovery support, in the wake of the economic downturn brought on by COVID-19 restrictions.
The first phase of the package included free night-time parking in most City bays after 6pm, free al fresco dining permits and grants of up to $5000, for eligible businesses to improve and retain custom.
Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas said the City’s partnership with the CCIWA during phase two offered a suite of opportunities for struggling businesses, including valuable access to a collective business knowledge base.
“Eligible businesses will also have unlimited access to the Chamber’s employee relations advice line, during their complimentary memberships, and that’s gold,” the Lord Mayor said.
“They’ll get expert advice on business continuity, as we all learn to live with COVID-19, and access member-rates’ training and e-learning packages.”
The six-month CCIWA Essential membership package, worth almost $1000, would be available to 200 City-based businesses, with fewer than 29 fulltime employees.
Meanwhile, the City’s business improvement grants offered enormous opportunity for businesses to rebuild and grow.
“If eligible, that’s a maximum $40,000 for a $20,000 outlay by the business – so double the opportunity for half the spend,” Lord Mayor Zempilas said.
As part of Perth Bounce Back round two, the City will match every dollar loaded onto City parking cards – up to *$100.
The offer is open to existing card users, while new users can apply for a card through cityofperthparking.com.au
The Lord Mayor said waiving fees for buskers would help to nurture emerging talent and bring back vibrancy.
“This is about getting our City buzzing again, with workers back in offices, supporting our businesses during their coffee and lunch breaks – or having a drink or meal after work – and enjoying the talent playing in the streets that day,” Lord Mayor Zempilas said.
