City Living Incentives Paying Off

Incentives designed to boost the number of residents living in the City of Perth are proving a tremendous success, with almost $140,000 worth of application fees waived in the first quarter of 2024.

As part of the City Living campaign, the City is currently waiving fees for new residential development applications, and waiving the City’s fee component for building and occupancy permit for new residential developments.

Foreshadowing the future opportunities created by the Perth ECU campus currently in construction as part of the Perth City Deal, the total fees waived include more than $34,000 in Planning Application Fees for the development of new purpose-built student accommodation at 609 Wellington Street, and more than $105,000 in Building Application Fees for another student accommodation building on 641-643 Wellington Street.

It’s all part of a busy quarter for the City, which issued 119 Planning Application Determinations, and 114 Building Permits.

The City was recently recognised for its speed in determining Development Applications by the WA Local Government Association, which found the City to be well above the state average, with 99.5 per cent of all decisions deemed to be made in a timely manner.

The volume of work is contributing to the rapidly changing face of our City of Light. You can view some of the Development’s in the pipeline in Major Projects.
