City of Canada Bay celebrates Small Business Month

This March the City of Canada Bay is rolling out a campaign to support small businesses across the City.

“As we emerge from an extended lockdown that has paid an unprecedented toll on our local economy, Small Business Month is an important moment to celebrate and support our small businesses,” Mayor Angelo Tsirekas said.

As part of Small Business Month, the City of Canada Bay organised a Business Expo with Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe and an online webinar with local Concord Business Performance Tuning consultant Azim Sahu-Khan.

These events aim to give businesses the tools they need improve their performance and rebuild after the pandemic.

In additional, the City of Canada Bay is profiling local business people on Facebook and Instagram with the aim of increasing the profile of small businesses across the City.

“Our hairdressers, artists, cleaners, bakers and baristas are the heart of our local economy and this campaign is about putting the spotlight on them,” Mayor Tsirekas said.

Throughout March, the City of Canada Bay will also be running its exciting Beats and Eats event program.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to visit the town centres of Drummoyne, Five Dock, Concord and Rhodes to savour delicious food from local restaurants while enjoying music from a resident DJ and other fun activities.

“This is an opportunity to breathe life back into our City with visitors encouraged to support small businesses by exploring the wonderful range of local offerings.

“Help support small businesses by shopping and eating out in your neighbourhood. Whether it’s a coffee, haircut or the weekly groceries, every dollar spent locally makes a difference.”
