The City of Greater Geelong Economic Development 2018 Review is now available.
The review outlines the Economic Development team’s
activities and achievements across the year, identifying record attendance at
Small Business Festival events, and the festival’s sell-out opening night
featuring Ita Buttrose, as major highlights.
Sector development activities are summarised in the review
and demonstrate the Economic Development team’s collaborative approach, with
the team leading industry and stakeholder partnerships across diverse projects
such as the G21 Sustainable Agribusiness Strategy, the Regional Industry Sector
Employment Program addressing skill shortages in the building industry, and the
UNESCO City of Design designation for Geelong.
Economic Development also supported a number of key local
and regional events throughout the year, including the Deakin University
Geelong Business Excellence Awards, the Geelong Innovate Expo, and the Upstart
Entrepreneurial Challenge, and assisted 600 small businesses through workshops
and one-on-one mentoring.
