City of Perth to launch free three-hour weekend parking over holiday period

The City of Perth will introduce free three-hour weekend parking across all off-street City of Perth car parks over the holiday period, commencing on 1 December 2020 and concluding on 31 January 2021.

The trial was approved by Council at the first Ordinary Council Meeting this week and will apply to all 30 off-street City of Perth carparks.

Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas said the policy demonstrates the City’s commitment to reinvigorating the CBD and supporting local businesses.

“By offering free three-hour parking on weekends we hope to increase accessibility over the holiday period and encourage visitors to shop in the city,” Lord Mayor Zempilas said

“We know that many businesses were impacted by COVID-19 and this is immediate action to boost visitation and help make Perth the home of Christmas.”

The free three-hour weekend parking will add to existing parking initiatives by the City of Perth. These include:

  • Maximum $5-night parking from 6pm until 6am, seven nights a week at all City of Perth off street carparks.
  • Free on street parking in standard parking bays across the city after 6pm, seven nights a week.
  • No fee timed on-street parking on Sundays.
  • One-hour free on-street parking in selected areas along Hay street in East Perth, West Perth and Royal Street, Claisebrook.
