Approval of the $240m St Martins redevelopment reflects growing confidence in Perth’s future.
The Metro Inner Development Assessment Panel approved the landmark development this week.
The mixed-use destination will feature a 240-room hotel, premium commercial space, activated retail and restored heritage buildings.
City of Perth Lord Mayor Bruce Reynolds said the approval came at an important time, following Council’s adoption of the 2026/27 Budget and continued implementation of the City of Perth Capital City Plan: Towards 2036 and Beyond.
“This approval is another clear sign that confidence in Perth is growing. This $240 million investment will create jobs during construction, strengthen our visitor economy, increase activity in the city and breathe new life into one of Perth’s most iconic sites,” he said.
“Council has adopted a responsible budget that invests in the infrastructure, public spaces and services our city needs.
“We’ve established a clear long-term vision through our Capital City Plan and Perth City Centre – Towards 2036 and Beyond. Developments like St Martins demonstrate that the private sector shares that confidence in Perth’s future.”
“Our role as a Council is to provide certainty, invest in the public realm and create the conditions that encourage investment. When government and the private sector work together with a shared vision, everyone benefits.”
The redevelopment will revitalise a significant CBD site, while preserving the heritage listed McNess Royal Arcade and Bridal House.
The City looks forward to working with the project team as they begin the redevelopment.
