The City of Ryde has partnered with Service NSW to simplify the process for entrepreneurs to set up
a café, small bar or restaurant, through the launch of the Easy to do Business program.
The Easy to do Business program is a free service that makes it faster for business owners to get
their business up and running through streamlining and designing simpler forms, while also removing
the duplication of dealing with m ultiple regulations and agencies.
The program also offers specialised advice from a business concierge who helps navigate the
complexities of starting or growing a business. This includes.
Assistance with a pplications for licences and permits to make su re they are high quality and
decision -ready before being submitted with councils and agencies
Help with how to register a business
Introductions to existing specialist support and advisory networks that can help and provide
advice on how to start your own business
Guidance to give you the certainty of understanding what you need to be doing to start your
businesses sooner.
City of Ryde Mayor, Clr Jerome Laxale said Council’s involvement with the Easy to do Business
program is the latest initiative it has u ndertaken as part of its commitment to drive business growth
and job creation in the local area.
“A thriving local economy and creating more local jobs is so important to Council. As a former small
business owner, I understand the difficulty, hurdles and red tape that people go through just to get a
business up and running,” Clr Laxale said.
“We want more cafés, bars and restaurants in Ryde and this program will help us achieve that.
“I would encourage anyone interested in opening a café, small bar or restaurant to take advantage of
the Easy to do Business program. It is free of charge and importantly is targeted at the businesses
that will help invigorate our local night time economy.”
Stefano Cirene, who owns Verace Pizzeria in Macquarie Park, said any initiative that hel ped
streamline the process es needed to establish a new business was most welcome.
“This program will really benefit an area like Macquar ie Park which is experiencing an increased
demand from the local commun ity for night time business that restaurants and bars provide, ” Mr
Cirene said.
