For the first time, Australia’s biggest garage sale is coming to the City of Swan.

The annual Garage Sale Trail, which takes place across Australia over two weekends in November, will see more than one million kilograms of second-hand items saved from landfill.

City of Swan Mayor David Lucas said in 2021, more than 200,000 Australians hosted a garage sale or shopped on the trail.

“This year we want those living in the City to be a part of that figure,” he said.

“Whether you’re looking to rehome plants or pushbikes, vinyl or violins, someone out there is looking for exactly what you’ve got.

“It is completely free to take part, and you’ll get all the tips, support and promotional materials you need.”

Residents and ratepayers that register their sale at garagesaletrail.com.au/swan will receive touch-free PayPal QR code payments so that they can stay COVID-19 safe.

Shoppers will be able to choose from items for sale across the City of Swan, and broader metropolitan area, while contributing to a more circular economy – where items are kept in use for as long as possible, delivering the highest value it can, for as long as it can.

Garage Sale Trail will present three Trail Tutorials over two weekends in late October and early November.

Hosted by Barry Du Bois, Annabel Crabb and Craig Reucassel, these inspiring and educational talks will take a look at sustainable fashion and renovations.
