Citys vision for future Perth gets States tick of approval

The City of Perth’s ambitious vision and plan for the future of our capital city, which includes a significant boost to the number of people who live and work in the City, has been approved by the State Government.

“We have a clear strategy that will guide how we grow our magnificent City in a sustainable way over the next 10-15 years,” Mr Zempilas said.

“Under our vision, we’ll see the number of City residents almost double to 55,000 people by 2036. We’re giving developers certainty around where they can invest in our city and highlighting the areas where we need more infrastructure to support residential growth.

“For example, the need for a primary school in the City of Perth by 2026 was identified in the Strategy and how fantastic that the State Government is on board, with a possible East Perth site recently announced.

The Strategy also identifies:

  • the need for a public high school by 2036
  • key areas for future high-density living
  • an increase in affordable housing options
  • incentives for environmentally sustainable development

“We’re so pleased to see the WA Planning Commission supports our ambitious plan, which will undoubtably make our City a more liveable, prosperous and sustainable place to live, work and play.”
