  • Around 2.3 million eligible Western Australians can now claim the Cook Labor Government’s $100 Fuel Support Payment
  • Payment available to eligible WA driver’s licence holders, including learner, provisional, and extraordinary licence holders
  • Part of the Cook Labor Government’s more than $1 billion cost-of-living support package in the 2026-27 State Budget

Western Australians can now claim $100 towards the cost of fuel to help with work commutes, school drop offs, driving lessons, and life in between, with claims opening for the Fuel Support Payment.

From today, about 2.3 million eligible WA driver’s licence holders including learner, provisional, and extraordinary licences can submit a claim for the one-off payment which is part of the Cook Labor Government’s $1 billion cost-of-living support package.

Western Australians can also choose to donate their payment to support people doing it tough, with 15 participating charities across three categories: food and emergency relief, children’s charities, and community support.

Donations will be shared equally among the charities within the selected category.

Alongside the Fuel Support Payment, foster and grandcarers can now register for the new Gold Card, while families will soon be able to access the third round of the WA Student Assistance Payment when applications open on 20 July.

The fastest and most convenient way to claim any of the Cook Labor Government’s cost-of-living support measures including the Fuel Support Payment is through the ServiceWA app. An alternative manual claim option is available for the Fuel Support Payment. This method will take up to eight weeks to process.

Since the announcement of the support payment on 7 May, the ServiceWA app has been accessed over four million times. It was opened 360,000 times on the day of the announcement itself, with the daily average sitting at 80,000.

People are encouraged to enable app notifications to stay informed about available offers and support they may be eligible to claim.

Paper claim forms will be available online, at Community Resource Centres, Regional Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure Service Centres, ServiceWA kiosks, participating local Members of Parliament offices, and public libraries across Western Australia, and can be submitted by mail with the required supporting documents.

As stated by Premier Roger Cook:

“My government will always do what’s right for WA, and we understand some Western Australians are doing it tough after a bumpy few years internationally.

“This is why we have committed to more than $1 billion in cost-of-living relief for WA households, including the Fuel Support Payment.

“Amid global conflicts, we’ll continue to work hard to ensure Western Australians are supported with secure jobs, roofs over their heads, and access to the health care they need when they need it.”

As stated by Acting Treasurer John Carey:

“The $100 Fuel Support Payment will put money back in the pockets of Western Australian with a driver’s licence.

“We know household budgets are under pressure, and this payment is one more way our government is helping families with the cost of living”

As stated by Minister Assisting the Transport Minister Jessica Stojkovski:

“This payment is about immediate cost-of-living relief and helping with the pressures faced by families, workers, students, and retirees across the State.

“We also know many Western Australians are passionate about supporting their communities, which is why claimants have the option to donate their payment to support our most vulnerable as part of our priority to build safe and inclusive communities.

“Cost-of-living relief remains a key priority for the Cook Labor Government, and the Fuel Support Payment is one of a range of measures helping Western Australians manage household expenses.”
