Claremont truck crash

A 34 year old Truck driver sustained minor injuries and several residents narrowly avoided injury after a truck lost control and crashed into an occupied house at Claremont last night.

Just before 10:00pm on Sunday 17th October 2021 the 16.5 tonne tip truck was being driven Northbound on the Brooker Highway when it lost control just past the Box Hill Road overpass. The truck then crossed the Southbound lanes, travelled down an embankment and crashed into the rear of a residence on Bristol Road, Claremont.

Police, fire personnel and emergency workers evacuated the area whilst the driver remained trapped for 45 minutes before being cut free and conveyed by ambulance to the Royal Hobart Hospital.
