CLB 3X3 Basketball arrives in Playford

CLB 3X3 Basketball arrives in Playford
Try your hand at the newest Olympic sport – 3X3 Basketball

Show off your basketball skills in the CLB 3X3 Basketball event – the latest sport to qualify for the Olympics!

Beginning on Friday, 13 March with a mixed Corporate Cup competition and ending on Sunday, 15 March, the three day event is suitable for people of all ages and abilities, with a Junior and Open competition.

CLB 3X3 basketball is as it sounds. Two teams of three people play a ‘street style’ game of basketball on a half court. Think flashy tricks and fast play.

The ‘street style’ game is the latest game to be listed as an Olympic discipline for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, providing another avenue for past, current and future basketballers to play at a junior or elite level.

This is the first year the CLB 3X3 tournament will be hosted in Playford, held at the Playford Tennis Centre in Elizabeth East.

City of Playford Mayor Glenn Docherty is proud of the sporting culture in the Playford region.

“Sport is a great way to connect communities and the CLB 3X3 Basketball event is an exciting chance to watch some elite players and introduce people to the game,” Mayor Docherty said.

“We encourage everyone young and old and of any ability in the community to come along and get involved in this action packed event.”

Across the three day event there will be kid’s entertainment, music, prizes, e-sports (hosted by our friends at the Northern Sound System), three point shoot outs and so much more!

The event is spread across the three days:

  • Friday, 13 March, 3 to 7pm: Skills n Drills, intro to 3X3 and Corporate competition
  • Saturday, 14 March, 2 to 9pm: Juniors under 13’s, under 15’s and under 18’s
  • Sunday, 15 March, 12 to 5pm: Open comp
