Clean Up Australia Day 2022

Greater Shepparton City Council and RiverConnect are hosting a Clean Up Australia Day event on Sunday 6 March at Kalinga Park in Shepparton.

Clean Up Australia Day is a national initiative to tidy up the environment from community groups and local government. This year celebrates 32 years of cleaning up Australia.

Greater Shepparton City Council, Mayor Cr Kim O’Keeffe said Council were excited to be cleaning up Shepparton again this year and were calling on the community to help.

“The event is a great way to teach children about being mindful of our environmental impact and keeping the bush clean for native wildlife. The Goulburn River is a beautiful natural landmark and is home to many of our great wildlife, it is important that we keep it clean,” she said.

“The day is a great initiative for families in the region, involving children in volunteering and helping them learn more about conservation. We can all contribute to a more sustainable future for Greater Shepparton.

“It’s also a great opportunity for residents to see the new Botanic Gardens Bridge if they haven’t already. Come along, reconnect with likeminded people and of course, help clean our river.

“Thank you to all the residents in Greater Shepparton who help keep our environment clean. We hope to see you this weekend.”
