Cloverdale Assault Charge

Belmont Police have charged a man after their investigation into an incident at a shopping precinct on Belgravia Street in Cloverdale on Monday, 31 August 2020.

It is alleged that at around 11:40am a verbal altercation occurred between two men outside a shop. One of the men returned to his vehicle and obtained a line trimmer (known as a wipper snipper) and walked back, pulling the ripcord multiple times. The victim sought refuse inside one of the shops.

A short time later the victim exited the shop and was again confronted by the man, who had started the line trimmer and stuck the victim with it, causing lacerations to his body.

On Tuesday 8 August 2020 a 41-year-old Kewdale man was charged with:

– Being armed in a way that may cause fear

– With intent to harm, did an act causing bodily harm

He will appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday 23 September 2020.
