The Finocchiaro CLP Government is delivering election commitments with $10 million to support community infrastructure in Palmerston.
Funding of $6.8m to City of Palmerston supports seven projects that enhance the Territory lifestyle by improving parks, playgrounds, community facilities, walking infrastructure and family services, while progressing the next stage of the Zuccoli Community Hub.
The funding will also support upgrades to several sports ovals with the CLP focused on restoring our unique Territory lifestyle.
The Finocchiaro CLP Government is investing $10 million to upgrade community facilities across Palmerston and help restore the unique Territory lifestyle.
Funding of $6.8 million to City of Palmerston will support seven projects that will improve parks, playgrounds, community facilities, walking infrastructure and family services, while progressing the next stage of the Zuccoli Community Hub.
The funding to City of Palmerston includes:
$2 million to build a brand new Zuccoli Community Hub$2.5 million to build a brand new Driver Community Centre$300,000 to install fencing at Bloodwood Park$700,000 to replace sand with rubber soft fall at playgrounds in Gray and Driver.$500,000 to upgrade footpaths throughout Gray and Driver $200,000 to establish Palmerston’s mobile toy and Library outreach service$600,000 to deliver the first stage of the Mitchell Creek Concept Plan
The remaining $3.2 million of projects will improve sporting infrastructure in Palmerston:
$1.25 million for Cazalys Oval upgrades (Palmerston Cricket Club)$1 million for upgrades to Gray Soccer Oval (Palmerston Rovers Soccer Club)$980,000 for upgrades to Goodline Park (Palmerston Raiders grounds and facilities)$150,000 to upgrade Moulden Oval lights (Palmerston Crocs Rugby Union)
Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro said by investing in local infrastructure, the CLP Government was strengthening the Territory lifestyle for Palmerston residents.
“We’re getting on with delivering better community infrastructure for Palmerston. These projects will make Palmerston a better place to live, work and raise a family,” the Chief Minister said.
Minister for Housing, Local Government and Community Development Steve Edgington said upgrading community facilities and public spaces will help Territorians connect and enjoy their local communities.
“As part of our year of growth, certainty and security, this funding will deliver infrastructure across Palmerston that keeps our community engaged and enjoying the best of what the Territory lifestyle offers,” said Mr Edgington.
City of Palmerston Mayor Athina Pascoe-Bell said the funding demonstrates what can be achieved when different levels of government work together to deliver outcomes that directly benefit the community.
“This is a significant investment in Palmerston and one that will make a real difference to the everyday lives of our residents,” Mayor Pascoe-Bell said.
These projects will help create more connected neighbourhoods, encourage active lifestyles and ensure our city continues to grow as a great place to live, work and raise a family.”
Planning for the delivery of the individual City of Palmerston projects is underway with construction activities and service implementation to occur over the next two years.
