CME signs on as title sponsor for Perth-Laverton Cycling Classic

The Chamber of Minerals and Energy of WA is proud to take on title sponsorship for the 1100km Perth-Laverton Cycling Classic.

CME Chief Executive Paul Everingham said the ride made an extremely important contribution to communities in WA mining heartland.

“When you reflect on the places the ride takes in – including Mount Magnet, Sandstone, Leinster, Leonora and, of course, Laverton – you’re talking about some of the most important mining communities in WA,” Mr Everingham said.

“CME is proud to be the title sponsor of an event that delivers so much to regional areas.”

Mr Everingham and several colleagues rode the full distance of the race in 2021, experiencing camaraderie and cross-cultural meetings along the way.

Cycling Development Foundation Chair Mary Tennant said event organisers were very grateful for CME’s support and the benefit it would provide for the charity ride event:

“The funds provided by CME will enable us to continue to run the Laverton Cycling Project and will cast a wider involvement amongst the cycling community in the mining and energy sector of WA. We would like to acknowledge the pivotal role taken by Paul Everingham who joined us on the ride to Laverton in 2021, and will join us again in his personal capacity in 2022.”

The 2022 edition of the Perth to Laverton Cycling Classic takes place between September 24 and October 4 and will feature 25 riders covering an average of 150km a day.

The 2021 event raised nearly $100,000, after initially targeting a total of $57,500.
