Cold case triple murder chargein Brisbane

This afternoon detectives from the Homicide Cold Case Investigation Team have charged a 63-year-old Goulburn man with three counts of murder following the deaths of three people in Mt Isa in 1978.

Karen Edwards, Tim Thomson and Gordon Twaddle were located deceased in bushland at Spear Creek, north of Mt Isa on October 24, 1978. The three had last been seen on the morning of October 5 following their arrival in Mt Isa as part of a motorcycle journey from Alice Springs to Melbourne.

Today, detectives have formally charged the man with three counts of murder.

While police have received significant information following their renewed appeal for information, they continue to urge anyone with information to contact police.

A $250,000 reward remains on offer for any information which leads to the conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murders of Karen Edwards, Tim Thomson and Gordon Twaddle.

Further, an indemnity from prosecution remains in place for any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the crime, who first gives information to police.
