  • Prospectus will be distributed to potential investors in Australia and around the world
  • State Government has allocated more than $100 million towards job-creating regional development projects in Collie
  • The McGowan Government today launched a new prospectus to promote the Collie region to investors in Australia and around the world.

    Collie is already attracting a range of new industry investments thanks to the State Government’s work over recent years to diversify its economy and develop new industries to support local jobs.

    The region has a range of competitive advantages to support new industries, including existing infrastructure and land, a skilled and agile workforce, and a supportive local business environment.

    Investors will be able to use the prospectus to easily access information on projects that are underway, and new opportunities in job-rich industry sectors.

    Industry sectors highlighted in the prospectus include:

    manufacturing;

    • energy intensive industry, such as mineral processing;
    • future clean energy, such as battery industry development; and
    • primary industries, including agribusiness.

    The prospectus was developed as part of the McGowan Government’s ‘Just Transition Plan’ for Collie, a framework to support workers and the wider community as the town transitions into new industries.

    The launch of the prospectus follows the 2021-22 State Budget announcement of an additional $20 million for the Collie Industry Attraction and Development Fund.

    The McGowan Government has recently committed more than $100 million for infrastructure development to attract and support private sector infrastructure in the region.

    As stated by State Development, Jobs and Trade Minister Roger Cook:

    “There are opportunities outlined in the Collie investment prospectus for funding support by the McGowan Government through the Collie Industry Attraction and Development Fund and the Collie Futures Industry Development Fund to assist developers of new projects.”

    As stated by Collie-Preston MLA Jodie Hanns:

    “The investment prospectus is an important step in the implementation of Collie’s Just Transition Plan, which was developed in consultation with the community and has the best interests of our town at its heart.

    “Collie is already attracting new sectors, and this document will help to continue diversifying Collie’s economy with further job-rich industry sectors of the future.
