Football Australia has named a 23-player CommBank Olyroos squad for two international friendlies against Korea Republic U23s at polytec Stadium, Gosford in October, as Australia begins its campaign towards qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
CommBank Young Socceroos Head Coach Trevor Morgan will oversee the CommBank Olyroos activity during the October window, which will feature matches against Korea Republic on Saturday, 3 October and Tuesday, 6 October.
The fixtures represent the first step on the road to LA28, with the CommBank Olyroos first aiming to qualify for the AFC U-23 Asian Cup Japan 2028.
Pre-qualification matches will be held in June 2027, before the AFC U-23 Asian Cup Japan 2028 determines Asia’s representatives at the Olympic Games.
The October window will provide emerging Australian players with an opportunity to establish themselves within the U23 environment and continue their progression through Football Australia’s National Team pathway.
It will also mark the first time the CommBank Olyroos have played on Australian soil since September 2019, when Australia recorded consecutive 1-1 draws against New Zealand U23s in Wollongong and Campbelltown.
Korea Republic will provide high-quality opposition for the opening window of the new cycle, with the first match at polytec Stadium open to the public.
