The CommBank Young Matildas opened the PacificAus Four Nations Tournament in the best possible way, defeating the Vanuatu senior national team 9-0 in front of a strong crowd at Viking Park, Canberra.
Attacking midfielder Sienna Saveska was the architect in the first half, grabbing two goals and two assists in her 45 minutes, while six other Australians got on the scoresheet – highlighting the genuine team effort from the Young Matildas.
It was a brave effort from Vanuatu who defended stoutly but struggled to maintain possession outside of their defensive third.
