Commission of Inquiry interim Chief Executive Officer appointed

Elise Archer,Attorney-General

Our Government takes the safety of children extremely seriously and there is nothing more important than ensuring the vulnerable in our community are protected.

The Commission of Inquiry is expected to commence later this month and will be fully empowered to undertake this important inquiry.

I am pleased to announce that Mr Brad Wagg has been appointed as interim CEO of the upcoming Commission of Inquiry so that administrative arrangements can be promptly made.

Mr Wagg is currently acting Director Community Corrections within the Department of Justice, and will start in the interim CEO role on 15 March 2021.

Work is continuing to consider the functional requirements of the Commission of Inquiry, including leadership, staffing, appropriate premises and any additional services, including support services, required to assist the operations of the Commission of Inquiry. The proposed President, the Hon Marcia Neave AO, has been directly involved in Mr Wagg’s appointment and will make the more permanent CEO appointment in due course.

Our absolute priority is to ensure the safety and protection of children, and we are working to make sure our Government systems are doing just that.
