Community Grant Applications Open

City of Darwin has today announced that applications for their Community Grants have opened, with $50,000 available to community groups for projects taking place in the first half of 2020.

Each financial Year City of Darwin allocates $150,000 to their Community and Environment Grants Program.

This is the second round of community grants for 2019 and a total of $50,000 is available for community groups and not for profit organisations looking to stage events and projects between 1 January and 30 June, 2020.

Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said “Since 2001 City of Darwin has provided more than $2M in grants to community groups and not for profit organisations through our grants programs.”

“With our financial support these organisations have developed programs and events that contribute to positive community outcomes for our community.”

“Community events and projects represent our rich history and the many cultures that make our city the unique place it is.”

“These events provide the community with many opportunities to engage, connect and strengthen relationships,” Lord Mayor concluded.

Organisations can apply for up to $10,000 for individual projects with applications open from 18 September, 2019 to 21 October.

Applicants will be advised the outcome of their grant submission in early December.

City of Darwin will be holding grant writing workshops for organisations wishing to apply for a grant, on Tuesday 1 October from 11am-12.30pm and Thursday 3 October, from 5pm to 6.30pm. Bookings are required.
