Community grants distributed – Campaspe Shire Council

Campaspe Shire Council this week handed out $113,130 to support 46 community services, programs and events through its Community Grants program which will result in projects and activities worth more than $600,000 being delivered to the community.

Lauren Kay from the Rochester & District Horse & Pony Club thanked council for the grant.

“The $4,000 will go towards a $10,000 project to install 10 new horse yards to make the 60 year old yards compliant and ready for the Rochester Show in February next year,” she said.

In accepting the $1,000 grant for the Gunbower & District Development Group, Audrey Dickins encouraged everyone to get paddling.

“Gunbower waterways are unique to northern Victoria and a great way to enjoy them is to get paddling. It’s environmentally friendly, no engine, no burning of fossil fuels, no pollution, and very quiet to observe the many water birds and other wildlife in their natural habitat,” Audrey said.

“The funding will to provide equipment and instruction for a get paddling day, a family event planned for early next year.”

Pat Schram of the Campaspe Valley Bowls Division congratulated all grants recipients and said the $5,000 grant to their organisation is supporting the 2020 Women’s Country Bowls Carnival with already 500 bowlers registered for the week-long event to be held at the end of March.

“The women are playing bowls in Echuca Moama, Lockington, Rochester, Tongala and other places across the shire. We have been further supported by Echuca Moama Tourism who have provided accommodation packages and are taking our bookings,” Pat said.
