City of Darwin is calling on local organisations and community members to bring forward ideas that help create a more connected, inclusive and vibrant city through Round 2 of the Community Grants Program.
The program provides funding for one-off projects, events and initiatives that deliver positive outcomes for the community and take place within the Darwin municipality.
Lord Mayor Peter Styles said the grants program supported grassroots ideas that brought people together and strengthened community participation.
“City of Darwin is proud to support local initiatives that strengthen community connections, celebrate diversity and encourage participation,” Mr Styles said.
“The previous round we supported a diverse range of projects, including botanical batik workshops and an art walk, a street dance festival, a dementia awareness event, a youth cultural identity program and a community netball carnival.
“These projects highlight the creativity and commitment of our local community.
“We encourage eligible organisations, groups and individuals to share their ideas and help shape an inclusive and vibrant Darwin,” he said.
Applicants can also get practical help with their applications at two free ‘How-To Apply’ information sessions at Casuarina Library on Wednesday 9 September and Wednesday 16 September, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
The drop-in sessions will have no formal presentations, with applicants welcome to bring a draft application or questions about the application form and get practical advice on framing their responses before submitting.
The Community Grants program is open to not-for-profit organisations, as well as individuals and groups auspiced by a not-for-profit organisation.
Eligible projects must be delivered within the Darwin municipality between January and June 2027 and meet the program guidelines.
Applications must be submitted through SmartyGrants.
