Community Grants to sing and dance about

The Adelaide Hills will be even more alive with the sound of music thanks to a Community Development Grant that is greatly assisting Adelaide’s
German Bund der Bayern Dancers deliver a cultural bonfire ‘Huettenzauber’ event at Woodhouse Scouts Camp in August.

Building on their successful pilot event in 2021 the Bund der Bayern not-for-profit dance group are now planning to welcome up to 500 visitors from metropolitan Adelaide and the Adelaide Hills to their one-of-a-kind community event with authentic German food and drinks around a bonfire and a torch hike.

Bund der Bayern Inc Group Leader, Reinhard Struve, says the group is excited to be activating the beautiful Adelaide Hills for a special winter event that would not be able to go ahead without the
Community Grant.

“As a small community group, we do not have large budgets for community events so the grant will assist us to provide services to the community which we could otherwise not be able to plan and deliver,” Reinhard says.

“The Community Development Grant was really easy to apply for and we have been able to purchase event equipment and materials and book the local venue of Woodhouse.”

Reinhard says the Council information sessions were really useful and this year in-person and online zoom information sessions have been scheduled for Monday 23 May to provide feedback for any community groups looking to apply before the final deadline of 30 June.

“The Council provided great support via the consultation sessions and also by happily giving us feedback on the individual queries we had,” Reinhard says.

“I would heartily encourage other community groups to apply for a grant this year because it is a great opportunity for the Hills community to continue to blossom.”

The annual grants program provides funding to assist local non-profit community groups and organisations establish and undertake innovative projects or activities that build community connections, boost the function and sustainability of community and sporting facilities or just generally make a positive contribution to our community.

Due to the upcoming local government election the community grants program is being held from 1-30 June with decisions on recipients announced in August.
